Sponsored by three Scandinavian Film Councils and the EU Media Fund, the festival plays in a major Scandinavian city every year. The Polar Film Festival is the premier independent film event in the Nordic countries.

The 2010 Polar Film Festival will have space for 20
narrative feature films, 16 feature documentaries, and over 100
short films, short documentaries, and music videos. One third of all
screening slots will be reserved for features of Scandinavian
/Nordic
origin. The festival prioritizes low-budget films of
independent spirit and new directing talent.
